  • B5 revisited in Germany

For all of you who speak (or at least are able to read) German, a popular sf-news-website in Germany has started a project called "Babylon 5 revisited":

They provide new, detailed synopses and reviews for each episode and include many detailed infos from the script-books and the Lurker's Guide. They also invite to a form of community watching and discussing of the episodes, similiar to the Group-Watch-project we did here some time ago (iirc, we never finished it, did we?).

Anyways, nice to see B5 still kicking in good old Germany!

I think it stopped at "Epiphanies" in season 4.

Wow, really? The last I remembered was "Ship of Tears". I'll have to do a search in older topics when I have more time. Perhaps we'll continue the Group watch (or at least the episode discussions) in the future, it was kinda fun.

That was my fault. I resurrected the group watch Ship of Tears thread when I finished reading the Psi Corps trilogy to answer a question about Bester's girlfriend.

There is also the infamous story when during a B5 convention in Germany. They came up with the idea of making Peter jurasik up to look like Londo and then get the fans to ask him questions as if he was Londo. Then Peter answers them as he felt Londo would.

A fan asked him who he could live with all the things he and his people had done. Peter responded by saying that humans where not much better and gave as an example Germany and it's actions in the second world war.

In an interview Peter said it "Went down like a led balloon". He takes every chance he can to apologize to German fans.

For better or worse. It was Peter saying what he felt Londo would say.

Hitting a Neurosis yields interresting reactions. A lot of Germans/Austrians just forget about that chapter in our history. The rest tries to somehow "redeem" themselfes (for a crime they did not commit, as most were babies back then). Therefore you have a kind of Pro-Israel view, although it erodes with Israels actions against Palestina. Anyway, didn't want to make this political (really!), just wanted to show:

Either the remark reminded the audience of the crimes (if they block them out), then there is an agressive reaction mostly (because they don't *want* to remember). Or the audience went silent, caught in the guilt (of a crime they themselfes (mostly, maybe there where some elderly persons) didn't commit).
