  • Early Behind-The-Scenes UPN Special

Ok, here's one for real hardcore fans. Shortly after "The Gathering" premiered, there was a Behind-The-Scenes special that aired, that was hosted (in a manner of speaking) by make-up artist Rob Sherwood, along with an animatronic character that he voiced. I used to have a copy of this special (as Rob was a very good friend of mine at the time). However I can no longer find this special and have lost touch with Rob. I would very much like to get another copy of this and was wondering if anyone else knew of it or had a copy of it???

    Thanks SO much!

Are you certain that the special was shown on UPN rather than PTEN (Prime Time Entertainment Network). I do not believe that UPN existed prior to 1995.

      Hi, Dragon77, welcome.

I've never heard of this one. I wonder if the animatronic character was the late, lamented n'grath?

Lee? Joe D.? Anybody remember this?

        You are correct! My mistake.

Jan, I do not believe that was the character (though not entirely sure). It was an animatronic hand puppet, if I recall correctly.

The show had Rob and the character interviewing all the major actors, usually while they were in the make-up chair.

This was before the show got the green light for a series, I believe.

          Wow, that sounds like something.

Maybe the thing to do would be to post the question on the Moderated Newsgroup ( rec.arts.sf.tv.babylon5.moderated ). JMS is there sometimes, of course, as well as some of the old Grid Epsilon Irregulars.

          Keep us posted, okay?

              Newsgroups

Ummmm, I don't do the Newsgroups. Maybe some kind soul would be so kind (hence being the kind soul) as to post this info there?

              Thank you!!!

Okay, I'll post this in a new thread on the newsgroup and we'll see what happens. It may take a while to show up so don't expect any answers right away but I think if anybody has what you're looking for it may be there.

                    E! Behind the Scenes Special

The special was actually an episode of E!'s Behind the Scenes series at the time. Actually hosted by their usual host but did have segments with the puppets taking the camera crew around. Something I recently unearthed as I was working on cleaning out my storage locker of videotapes (and transferring the keepers to DVD).
