In addition to just my age and gender, I'm telling them that I'm a professional and that I've got discretionary income to spend on products that might be advertised with their production.
Isn't part of the problem that, as opposed to a TV show, a direct-to-DVD production doesn't attract advertisors due to the nature of the product? Even if advertisement was included, it would be very easy to skip it.

I'm not sure what the cause of WB's reluctance has been all that time - the sales figures of the series DVD boxes can't have been it. Maybe they're worried about not being able to attract the younger audiences/new fans with a direct-to-DVD production while the original show apparentyl is nowhere on air currently.

True. But the same information can tell them where to place advertisements for the product. The one (and only) print ad that I saw for TLT was brilliantly placed, the full back cover of the San Diego Comic Con souvenir book. I understand that there were a few more, but not many. The 'stealth' promotion was very annoying to me at the time.

No seriously. The main marketing strategies in Germany are targeted at 13-45 year olds because they are deemed to be the group with the most "buying power" (sorry, don't know the right english term).
This is true, but you go on to make a point I was going to point out:

This is changing, of course, due to the fact that there are A LOT more older people living in Germany than younger ones and seniors become a major factor when it comes to "buying power".
Exactly, and that's pretty much true everywhere. Advertisers are starting to target their ads toward the aging population and, in my case, the fact that I'm willing to write in and make my preferences known carries a heavier weight than a younger demographic member who doesn't voice an opinion.

      At least, that's the hope.

I stand corrected - just now I've been informed that the show *is* on air in Germany - sort of. Three of the TV movies were broadcasted today - at 5 o'clock in the morning That's about the third time they've done that. Anyway, if they could manage to air them at a time people are actually watching, that would be a good advertisement place.

          WHAT?
Oh no, why didn't they advertise? I had no idea, I could've recorded them! *insert swear-word of choice*

Apparently they did - I just missed it.

thanks Jan I don't feel too comfortable giving away too many personal details but if it helps keep the DVDs rolling off the presses it's a small price to pay.
