    Richard Biggs' Passing

This is very sad news and I pray that his family finds comfort and strength.

"To live on as we have is to leave behind joy, and love, and companionship, because we know it to be transitory, of the moment. We know it will turn to ash. Only those, whose lives are brief can imagine that love .. is eternal. .. You should embrace that remarkable illusion. It may be the greatest gift your race has ever received."

Richard Bigg's offical site http://www.richardbiggs.com has been updated with a notice of Richard's passing and information about a memorial service on Wednesday.

There is a request from his family that in lieu of flowers donations be made to his sons college fund. Information about the fund will be posted when available.

            (sigh)

I wish people would read what I WRITE, and not insert stuff I did not say. I never said the Shadow War was the "only" thing to B5. Strawman arguments are cheap arguments. Don't use them.

            Anyway...

If JMS could subtract the MAIN CHARACTER, Sinclair, and B5 still survive, I'm sure he could subtract a minor character like Dr.Franklin. It would be similar to how he killed off Talia and replaced her with Lyta. Sad. Tragic. But in the long term, not a great difference in the 5-year plot.

            Back to the movie/project...

Franklin is probably there in JMS' story, but I'm sure he could easily be removed without too much trouble or impact. He was a minor/not-necessary character in the stand-alone movies (River of Souls, Thirdspace, etcetera), and I'm sure the same is true for the theatrical movie.

Who knows? Maybe JMS will use that cute Indian doctor.

My boss' brother is Jay Kenneth Johnson of Days of Our Lives fame and last we were talking about his new show coming out entitled "The North Shore," and then the girls were talking about his character on Days and how he was an all time favorite, despite his short stint. I brought up that Biggs had passed away and they were shocked. He went before his time.

Hey, plif, isn't that the name of a Hoojib?
Recently, there was a reckoning. It occurred on November 4, 2014 across the United States. Voters, recognizing the failures of the current leadership and fearing their unchecked abuses of power, elected another party as the new majority. This is a first step toward preventing more damage and undoing some of the damage already done. Hopefully, this is as much as will be required.

This is not the place IMHO to discuss this topic. Please start another thread if you want to talk about this.

i'm so shocked i cant explain.
I feel very much for his family - i never met him but his eyes seemed so loving and open that its such a great loss. I know i will set aside alot of time to think of him tonight.

                  Small recompense.
Through this experience though he has given somethng to me. I have a huge fear that i will die in a plane crash, in fact i have just arrived here quite depressed after a hypnotherapy session (my first one). So i have been concertrated on death for the last 2 hours - to come here and find that it has actually happened to someone, so unexpectedly, who was healthy and wonderful has so shocked me as to give me perspective.
His passing has reinforced to me the randomness of life and the destructiveness of fear. So i will let his passing help me and remember the feeling i have now when i next board a plane.

                      Adding my condolences

When I read jms' post Saturday night, my girlfriend and I were in shock. We met Rick at VoR (1998). Very nice and personable, as were most of the actors. He will be remembered fondly when B5 is watched again.

Side note. I've been scanning the news for the last 4 days (googlenews searching) for further word. Finally a hit this morning on CNN. You know what? The entirety of the obit was taken from (a) jms' post, and (b) his IMDB bio. No other independent information. Truely a sad state of reporting.

Richard Biggs passing announced on cnn.com

Right now, the front page of cnn.com has an article on the passing of Richard Biggs. It is tragic that this has happened, but at least the information is finally getting out to a national source.

Well, the family - understandably - may not be up to taking calls and confirming facts and all that nonsense at the moment.

                            CNN and other media

(It's still on the front page currently. Here's the link, for it will be displaced by more recent news.)

I think it's nice that they considered it important enough to report it even without an official press release.

TV Guide has not reported it yet, as far as I know, but I'd be surprised if they don't have a note about Richard Biggs passing in the next few weeks.

I'm watching "Anderson Cooper:360" on CNN now. As they went to their last commercial break they listed the top 3 most hit articles currently on CNN.com and the article on Richard Biggs was number 1.
