TV Stuff?!?

JMS sure seemed touchy about someone referring to him being 'busy with TV Stuff' in the latest message

It wasn't the "tv stuff" that he was touchy about, it was the unfounded accusation/assumption that Supreme Power # 9 isn't on retail shelves because JMS is behind with his comic book scripts - and the further unfounded assumption that this is because he's too busy with "tv stuff".

JMS has a somewhat unfair rep for being late and/or erratic with his comic book production because a host of contractual, production and other issues (especially as relates to his Top Cow and other small, Indy publisher titles) have hit his books. IIRC there have only been a handful of cases where a JMS title has been delayed because of a late script, and he's always been pretty up-front about that sort of thing. But it is still the case that every time an artist is late or a publisher runs into a technical glitch at the printer or the distributor, the people who post to that comic book newsgroup are quick to blame JMS - and he gets ticked off about that sort of thing - an about people who live in an information vacuum spouting off about things they know nothing about in general. (The guy pretends to know that the book is "late" because JMS didn't turn in a script on time and further purports to know that the reason JMS was late is because he is working on a TV script - when in fact the writer knows nothing about circumstances concerning the comic or JMS's other projects. I get pissed off when I read posts like that about politics or computers or TV or any other subject where someone pretends to have some kind of inside info when they clearly don't - and I'm not even the one on the receiving end of their b.s. So I can only imagine how annoyed JMS gets when he is.)

Still seemed a little overly harsh imo but then i am not under the alleged (note i said alleged) stresses of one mr JMS.

It was perhaps a thoughtless comment but there was unlikely any cruel intent behind it.. annnnnnnnnnyway - i like the oppurtunity JMS made of it to pretty much confirm it wouldn't be anything on the small screen - on that he was pretty clear \o/

Who knows what kind of garden implements we may see down the road? ;-) If JMS said numerous things are possible, you can count on it.

As for his being touchy, I'm certain it was the way the poster presented the comment - as a fact. If s/he'd phrased it as a possibility rather than a certainty, the reaction would have been different, I think.

And before everyone jumps on this, I know the big project is almost certainly a theatrical movie. I was holding out hopes for the 'spades.'
