  • Lost Crusade Scripts

    Hey all,

I may be pummeling a dead equine here, but i'll give it a shot, I'm a huge B5 fan, have been since the show started, read a bunch of the books, got the DVD's and everything, the one fan thing i don't tend to do that much is go on the forums.

Anyways i was futzing around at work online and playing around wikipedia where i happened to land at Crusade (b5-spinoff, not the real Crusades) and was reading and found out that there were unproduced scripts and some of those had released online.

So what did i do well i did a Google search for Crusade scripts and found this http://jmsnews.com/forums/archive/index.php?t-119.html old thread,

now, i'm wondering where this all stands, are the scripts at this point available? and if not why not?

Going back and reading the thread about copyright etc etc, i have to say this, i've got B5 seasons 1-5, Crusade, The Movies, Ledgend of the Rangers(which i hated) and The Lost Tales.

i've also purchased about 10 books as well, some offical some not (like the excellent Babylon File & #2)

I respect JMS and the other writers rights to get paid for their work, but they could put them on a website and charge 10 bucks or something like that, at this point given the amount of money i've poured into the universe that i love part of me could care less about their wish's. I want to read those scripts time has not diminshed that desire.

I'm not saying i would violate the almight copyright given the chance but i am *really* frustrated by this, if i could pay for the scripts i'd do so without blinking, but they're not in a format i can do that so if i want to abide by the rules then i get screwed. and people who were more in the know or just luckier get to have read that stuff when i haven't.

it's a lose/lose situation for me, and i hate that!

Hi, Fearless, welcome. No, at this point the scripts aren't legally available to the general public...BUT...

It's not really a lose/lose situation but you'll been to be patient in order to get these legitimately. JMS has said that he *will* put his two scripts in the script books when it comes time to do the Crusade books. In addition, he's said that after his scripts are out that he expects to contact the other writers to see about publishing their scripts in the same way and pay them a commission. That would include Fiona Avery's 'Value Judgments' script presumably.

You probably got the message in the thread that you linked to but I'll repeat it just the same. We don't facilitate pirating here on JMSnews so please don't post discussions of where pirated scripts might be available publicly.

    Hope this helps,

    Jan

Realistically? I'm not sure. There are 3 books left of the B5 scripts to be published and there've been gaps of months in between each since JMS has gotten so busy with screenplays and the script books are a personal project. After the main 14 book series (with the free 15th volume for everyone who bought the 14 set), presumably will come the Crusade books. Perhaps within a year or so? Remember, with most series there'd be no hope at all of seeing any of these.

So, would you have a separate volume for JMS's answer to the memos, or just put it at the end?

                "No."

FYI There's a short one paragraph summary of the "lost" episodes in the B5 Mongoose Games role playing game supplement book Crusade, I own the book and it describes them

There are also some detailed reviews of the three scripts at WorldsOfJMS, if you really can't wait and want a general idea what is in them. I haven't read them though; I want the actual scripts to be my first time that I see the stories, though I do know some of the plotpoints that get mentioned often.

                    (like
                    Bester showing up in one
                    )

From what I've heard of the TNT problems that would be the same as the chronological order...

BTW, the Worlds of JMS link is the second best thing to reading the actual scripts if you can't wait (I did get the chance to read them, and I think the summaries of the episodes are good enough).

totally agree, i remember being totally enraptured when i read them on Bookface years ago as they showed B5/Crusade at it`s best.

damn tnt for terminating the show.

Despite the absolutely horrendous interface provided by Bookface that made reading the scripts quite a chore, I also fondly remember reading those Crusade scripts. The last of which I believe was the season finale, which like "Chrysalis" turned the tables over. I am looking forward to seeing them again when we get Crusade script books.
