  • man, I love this show!

[delurking] I watched the Lost Tales a few days ago, which has inspired me to start watching B5 from the beginning. again. Now, I'm no newbie. I was watching B5 when it was on TV. Then I watched it again on tape when I was recording the shows on my VCR. Over the years I've watched the tapes again, then bought the DVD's when they came out and watched those. So obviously I've been through the whole series a couple of times and seen some of the key episodes a few times more.

I don't say this to brag or to introduce myself. What I'm trying to say is that I'm bewildered and amazed that I can see some of these episodes so many times and yet still be awed, amused, mystified, moved, enthralled and entertained my watching them one more time. Last night I watched The Parliament of Dreams ("...but in purple,,,,I'm stunning!"); tonight I watched Mind War, which inspired me to write this. I mean, Psi Corps, Bester, Talia, Sigma957, "nobody is exactly as they appear", "be seeing you". All in just one episode and yet each one a thread to another episode and another story. And this episode also has one of my favorite lines of dialogue/ideas in the whole series; "and if one ant asked the other, 'what was that?!'..." (I could type out the whole thing but I know I'm preaching to the choir).

Up next, The War Prayer ("my shoes are too tight") and And The Sky Full of Stars, whoo boy. Man I love this show.

Ok, I'm going back down below now. Carry on as you were.

Aw, stick around, noblues. Of course you're preaching to the choir here. That's part of the fun. Nothing better than hanging out and talking about our favorite...maybe second favorite...think in the whole universe.

Yes, that is the beauty of the show , you can watch it again and again , still enjoying it. from "Comes the Inquisitor" :

"Who are you" .... "Delenn !?" "No ! that is just your name!!...." and so on .... the sheer theatrical acting performance of that episode blows me away every time - and the *amazingly* intense scene with G'Kar and Vir in the elevator with Stephen Furst's excellent performance eclipsed by Andreas Katsulas' intensity ..... and so much more in most of the episodes.

Yes B5 is a show that never gets stale or tired.
It's by far the best written Science Fiction and that is reflected on its ability to draw people in and empathise with the characters.
And it doesn't just rely on the old cliche of most Sci-Fi shows [reverse the polarity! ] which tens to disolve into technobable but instead B5 covers a gamut of themes like suspense, drama, romance, sadness, humour, pathos, horror and genuine moments of pure truth like G'Karrs declaration of Principles, "we are one". I never get tired of that speech and would say that it should be adopted as the UN creed for all humanity.

I could not agree more - and I include spirituality (in its broadest sense - yes , it's got everything a good story needs.

Sometimes it's quite nice to have a newcomer come around to share their insights. For one thing, it reminds some of us what it was like to find B5 for the first time; for another, their perspective is often quite different for those of us who have been around the block a few times.

Actually Joe, he made it pretty clear that he's only new to these boards, but is in fact a long time fan of B5.

Yeah, but I spent two hours at DMV this morning getting my license renewed and didn't have my first cup of coffee until after noon, so don't expect my usual razor-sharp level of clarity (although I am reliably informed, twice zero is still zero).

There's food!? Point the way to the Spoo table! And the atmosphere is pretty good too, keeps us coming back for more.

I've got to dig up the photo I took on set a while back, where they had a wondeful food display, with each item clearly labeled, from Spoo to my all-time favorite, Narn Bars.

                          Lost Tales: Awesome

                          Joe and crew,

Didn't find anywhere else to send this, but I had to make sure that JMS knows I love the Lost Tales, and am eager for more. Part one I give 3 of 4 stars, and part two I give 4 stars.
Contemplative dialogues/monologues are one of my favorite aspects of B5.
I've been a B5 fan since the beginning and was thrilled to revisit this universe. I was even inspired to read a couple of novels and rewatch a few episodes.

I'd also like to see stories with Garibaldi, Ivanova and the Rangers.

                          Thank you so very much,

                          Sean Stubblefield

                            Hi, Sean, and welcome.

I just wanted to make sure you knew that JMS doesn't post here and as far as we know, doesn't read here either. Your best bet to be more sure that JMS knows how you feel is to post to the moderated newsgroup. There's info on how to do this In this thread.

                            Otherwise, welcome again.

As long as the atmosphere has enough oxygen (and not much CO2) and no toxic gases, I'll keep coming back for more too... in each breathe actually.
