Ironically, Jerry did a fourth season episode of Moonlighting ("Cool Hand Dave") where he was one of a parade of actors auditioning to "replace" David Addison (Bruce Willis).

    Bruce Willis as Garibaldi?

    Utter sacrilege!

Jms has never re-cast any of the main characters on the show, with good reason.

Better to write the character out of the script than to corrupt it beyond all recognition.

Other than him being hair-deprived and similarly the macho-guy-with-gun.... I don't see how that'd work. He'd look the part, sure, but I doubt he'd play it well.

Matheson was in the right place at the right time to be involved in the Telepath War. This was shown in Crusade's episod "The Path of Sorrows"
I would love to see him involved.
That's the only Crusade character that I can see fitting easily, I guess Gideon may be shown commanding a ship (but I'm not sure if he was already a captain in that timeframe) but doesn't seem essential and canbe easily replaced. Still I'd like to see Gary Cole in that role again.

There's a tantalizing line in the last book of the Psi Corps trilogy about Lyta and Bester which gives another reason Garibaldi wants to get him. I'd rather not post it (I don't remember it exactly anyway).
I suspect they do get close... but what happens is not what one would expect or want.

I think that if TMoS is about the Telepath War Pat Tallman will have one of the best dramatic (and tragic roles), but Psi Corps book 3 doesn't give any specifics about her destiny.

Bester survives, but maybe not with honor... and as many things in B5, it will be the how and why that makes it interesting, even if we know the end result... it will be great to see Walter Koenig as Alfred Bester again.

Bester's fate and the resolution to his conflict with Garibaldi is settled in the final book of the Psi Corps triology. Lyta never gets anywhere near Bester during the Teep War presumably because he does manage to survive after the war.

remember that Garibaldi and Lyta have an agreement that Lyta will help Garibaldi "throw down on Bester."

of course maybe Lyta will somehow render Bester's telepathic powers null and void so that Garibaldi can extract his revenge.

but something tells me that Garibaldi would never want that. all he wants is to be able to be free to do it to Bester himself. and nothing would be more satisfying to Garibaldi than to do it on his own terms and in his own way.

Hi! I am new to the board.

I love B5 and have just finish collecting all 5 seasons on dvd.

I am excited about a B5 feature film and will be there to see it too.

I don't think that any non-B5 characters will or should be in the feature film.
So there aren't going to be an guest-star characters in the movie? No villains, even? It will just be the series regulars standing around talking to one another?

Since there will obviously be some characters in addition to the B5 regulars the plot requires, I see no problem with some of these roles being filled by characters from Crusade or Rangers if it makes sense in the story. Matheson would certainly be a logical choice if the film touches on the Telepath War, and some other characters might fit in as well.

I can't stand to even think of what adjustments might need to be made due to Richard Biggs's untimely passing.

    Regards,

    Joe

Well, with the terrible loss of Rick Biggs, JMS will have to rethink certain elements...and while we will all rush to see TMoS, if for no other reason than to pay our respects to B5 and Rick, and while JMS of all writers can change a story to account for a missing or different actor in such a way that you would've thought that he wrote it that way the first time, TMoS will be greatly dimished by Rick's absence.

I will be conspicuous...there will be a gaping hole where a beloved soul once stood.

We know that Dr. Franklin would've been alive, but I suppose we will only hear about what he's doing now instead of seeing him.

My mind is numb. It's hard to wrap it around B5 without Rick. Odd, that in what was a time of celebration, a time when B5 was about to make a giant leap, that this should happen and that it will have to move on without Dr. Franklin. It will never be the same.

I don't think that any non-B5 characters will or should be in the feature film. I think most characters from S1-S5 will be in the film in either starring or support roles but I don't think any spinoff charaters will be included.

The main series characters have a much broader appeal than the spinoff characters. Personally, whenever I saw Capt. Gideon I just kept on seeing the boss from Office Space. And personally I would prefer to see the main characters from the main series.

From the Crusade characters, I think Matheson could feature in a Teep War movie...

    Two comments...

I seem to remember someone a few years ago did some fan art of a B5 movie that involved the telepath war. It was a silver Psi Corp logo on a black bacground with the words "The Corp is Mother, the Corp is Father." And of course it also had on there "Babylon-5: The Telepath War". Does anyone know about this?

I really hope in a way that the new B5 project doesn't explore new storyline territory but rather fills in this big gap called the Teep War. I mean, we know that it happens and we know how it ends but it's the "in-between" stuff that intriques me to no end.

Plus, I want to see Lyta throw down on Bester.

If the Teep War isnt in the upcoming feature film, i dont think it will ever be more than background in the B5 universe. Personally Im hoping for something new to happen.

Knowing JMS, if it the project is covering new territory, and I think it is, then we might as well all stop trying to guess at the storyline, as were most likely kidding ourselves.

I can almost imagine the teaser poster campaign for a B5 movie of the Telepath War.

Black poster with silver text near the top reading "Can you keep a secret?"

Underneath, centre image, fairly subtle image of a PsiCorp logo. Perhaps highlighted as though from a single source of light.

And beneath that, in the same silver text, "Are you sure?"

And beneath that a small WB logo.

    .
    .
    .

    Ah well, I can dream.
