  • Group Watch: Falling Toward Apotheosis

Sheridan and Delenn re-engage in their courtship, and Delenn pressures Lorien a couple of times to find out how much time Sheridan has left, to which, we find out the answer is twenty years. Only 20 years! Well...Lennier must be happy lol.

The Vorlons have unleashed their rage here, and have gone about trampling any planet that has had anything to do with the shadows. If we hadn't figured out they're not good guys by now, I think we were just given our final slap in the face.

We're starting to see Garibaldi's arc take shape here as he's becoming more and more isolated from the rest of the crew. They're wary of him, he's wary of them, and I'm sure he didn't like the assignment to go take out the Vorlon. That was a pretty intense piece of drama, and very well done.

Cartagia's wroking with shadows and is envisioning a spectacular end to Centauri prime as he ascends into godhood as a crazy man. Oh yeah, and we get to see his "shadow cabinet." Sick.

On the lurker's guide..I see a question about "the original storyline" and the "first kosh killed in this episode" which JMS did not answer. Is there something regarding the original storyline that was changed where Kosh was killed last season? I'd like to know that.

If you go back on the Lurker's Guide to the JMS Speaks section for Interludes and Examinations, there are more hints about it there.

      Found it, thanks RMcD.

You're right about the mentor; sooner or later, the mentor has to step aside (or fall by the wayside) for the others to grow into the hero's journey. Originally this was slated to happen a bit later...I think, on some level, I was reluctant to do it, because to write this kind of stuff you have to *feel* it yourself, and I think I was avoiding that as much as Kosh was avoiding his fate. I didn't want to go through writing that. So I kept putting it off. I knew it *had* to be done...but not yet....

And that's when, for lack of a better explanation, Kosh stepped up and began to pull me in that direction in the script. It was time. His passing shouldn't be frittered away or minimized; it should happen at the right moment, and this was that moment. It's almost impossible to describe this to a non-writer, but the character, this fictional construct, was simply determined to have his way, and that was the end of it. I kept trying to dance away in the script, to go back into safer waters...but each time was pulled back in this direction, until finally I had to admit that yes, this was the right time, and the right way, to do this.

      And Kosh fell.

But what finally convinced me was the realization that this was not only right for now, but right for *later*...though you won't know what that means for a while yet.

Seeing the "good" "original" kosh come back out of Sheridan to defeat the "new" "bad" Kosh was really nice! How that was played out was brilliantly performed. Garibaldi is really becoming a pain in the butt and I still remember seeing the fourth season the first time thru just 2 years ago and how much I wanted to choke Garibaldi and knock him off his feet but we all know there is more to come

Lorien and Sheridan revealing to Delenn that John only has 20 years left but to see John propose to Delenn really capped off the episode nicely although seeing that Cartagia was going to have G'Kar's eye removed was hard to see because again that was another future that couldn't be changed but still a foreshadow nonetheless.

A pretty awesome episode I thought because of a lot of loose threads are slowly rapping up here.

I've always noted that whilst Sheridan is recieved with open arms and a sort of messianic reverence, Garibaldi on the other hand is treated with suspicion and mistrust. I think he could identify with Lyta and her poor treatment at the hands of Sheridan later on.

Drama is the essence of B5, more so than SF - SF is just the setting - that is why I love B5 ...

... and the "Shadow Cabinet" is a good pun - and Londo's reaction - I love it
