  • Group Watch: Ship of Tears

This is one of the more interesting and memorable A-plots of the series, in my opinion. We learn that there's a lot more to Bester than just some jerk guy who comes around to piss everyone off. And the link between telepaths and shadows is established.

G'Kar also wants in. He wants in now dammit!

This is a pretty straight forward question, and my question relates back to the Psi-Corps trilogy. Now, Bester's lover in that was not named Carylon, but Elizabeth Montoya, as I recall. Whens he was re-programmed, did they give her a new name? I forget. I can't recall a Carolyn mentioned in that book or prior to this, so I'm confused.

    Shouldn't that be NOW?

I read a book on editing the other day, and it stated an exclamation point is completely effective for showing excitement. It was written before message boards, apparently.

Elizabeth Montoya was Bester's lover before his assigned wife. Carolyn became his lover after his assigned wife. I think in the episode, Bester mentions having met Carolyn something like 5 weeks prior. In Book 3, Elizabeth and Carolyn are both mentioned, and we learn the final fate of Carolyn too:

        (highlight for Carolyn's fate)
Carolyn's freezer unit was destroyed with her in it during the telepath war by a terrorist bomb, a bombing possibly financed by Garibaldi

Agree that this was one of the most surprising episodes in the series, because Bester was revealed to be "human" and willing to sacrifice the aims of his "higher nature" in favor of his "immediate nature." It also set the course for the rest of the series, by revealing the Shadows' Achilles Heel.

Plus, it had some of Andreas's and Mira's best acting moments, when she revealed how much she knew, and when. Great stuff. Legendary isn't going too far, IMO.

I believe that when we leave a place, part of it goes with us and part of us remains. Go anywhere in the station, when it is quiet, and just listen. After a while, you will hear the echoes of all our conversations, every thought and word we've exchanged. Long after we are gone .. our voices will linger in these walls for as long as this place remains. But I will admit .. that the part of me that is going .. will very much miss the part of you that is staying.

Nope, you left off on "Epiphanies." I brought this one back because I just finished reading the Psi Corps trilogy and thought I would answer your question about Carolyn and Elizabeth.
