  • New JMS post!!!

It's showing up in the original site and not the Beta site right now, but you all need to check it out! I've posted the entire thing on the Rare JMS East Coast Appearance thread, too.

Don't forget the other important part of the post.

Soon, I promise, all will be made clear. I don't like being Mr. Mysterioso on this, but if I say too much, the-powers-that-be will use my head to make a 2.35:1 sized hole in the wall.
B5:TMoS has to be a movie. (2.35:1 is a film ratio.)

        awesome!!!

I've never posted here before, but I thought I would share my excitement with the readers here. I've been waiting for a Babylon 5 film for years and when I saw the 2.35:1 in the latest JMS post I couldn't have been more happy. There isn't any room for interpretation anymore, Tmos is a feature film. I can't wait to totally geek out at the local multiplex.

JMS you need to deliver a hell of a space battle. A space batttle lead by John Sheridan. If I get a really nice battle, I'll be one happy fan.

And of course contract negotions fit right dead on with Bruce and Jerry canceling a con visit a couple of weeks ago due to a film that came up. Tis all fitting quite perfectly together... and I can't wait to hear more

All I know is that I haven't been this thrilled in years

I still don't think it's a movie it could be a series seeing that new show are being persented in wide screen now like enterprise (evil).

And franckly (not to be a party pooper) while there are a good deal of B5 fans out there B5 hold a small neach in Sci-Fi not one that would be profitable as a feture film it just dos'nt appeal to a major group of movie goers let along TV watcher. I don't want be the one to say it but those are the facts there's no really profit out side of TV for the time being the fan base is no were near what ST was when it's first film came out and it was garbage but it was profitable becouse so many people wanted it. Franky IMO to make a movie based on B5 i think will do more harm than good

Sorry that just they way I see thing,

As to the above post, alot of the same things were said about B5 before it came out on TV to start. It's perfectly possible for a movie based on B5 to be succesful in theatres, esp if its written by jms.

Really, I wonder how long the One has worked in the movie industry....

Isn't widescreen 1.68:1 and movies 2.35:1? If so, this would imply that the new project is a movie.
I believe that when we leave a place, part of it goes with us and part of us remains. Go anywhere in the station, when it is quiet, and just listen. After a while, you will hear the echoes of all our conversations, every thought and word we've exchanged. Long after we are gone .. our voices will linger in these walls for as long as this place remains. But I will admit .. that the part of me that is going .. will very much miss the part of you that is staying.

I think it was a joke. He could just as well have written "a 4:3 hole..."

But I'm not dismissing the idea that it could be a theatrical movie!

All things considered im betting that its a movie in some form. In the past, jms has used tv movies to establish tv-shows, so i think it more likely to be a television movie.

Thats not excluding the possibility of a feature film, though. I'm keeping an open mind.

There is no doubt in my mind that it's a movie after that little tidbit. It's as close to saying it's a movie as he can get without getting into legal trouble. This is fantastic!!

                        Movie vs Series

In the post, JMS refers to "a lot of money involved". That phrase has never been synonymous with B5 the series or the telemovies. Also, the negotiations seem to be especially complicated. JMS has been involved in several television series and TV-movies, but never a feature. There is a definite feel that he's having to become accustomed to this level of business. So we'll see. If it is a feature, JMS's task will probably be to make a feature that looks like it cost $100MM for half that price. This is basically the same thing he did for B5 on TV.

He had once estimated delievery of a quality B5 feature for $35MM, but adjusting for inflation and the passage of time, including the fact that Netter Digital no longer exists, I think there will be additional startup costs involved.

                        As for "B5 in spades"?
Damn, I can't wait to hear what else he's got.

                          Things are looking up.

I dunno, maybe it's the "fantasy" craze that's the wake of LOTR and a half dozen comic book movies, but there seems to be a lot of fringe cult stuff that's making it's way on screen.

Not that I'm complaining, if B5 gets it's due also.

(and Firefly. Woot.) (just had to toss that in )

Well im not giving up (at all my previous posts i said it that TMoS will not be a movie),but after looking (and reading) the latest from the Master i begin to think differently.

-A lot of money = sounds like a movie to me (or he plans on bringing Tom Cruise to a telefilm..as Vailen?)

-...on a multitude of fronts = franchise for the movie (maybe a B5 PC game?)

-2.35:1 = im not so sure about this,it could be a movie but as far as i know this aspect ratio is for DVD's format (which has the black bars),not so sure.

                              aspect ratio

2.35:1 ratio is definately a film. TV shows that are shot widescreen are not shot that wide. His post didn't leave any room for interpretation.
