• Babylon 5 Diaries up For Viewing - SPOILERS

I hate the site (VMix.com), but the content just improved:

The vMix Software Video Mixer and Switcher is the complete live video production software solution. For more information, visit vMix online today!

It is titled "Babylon 5 Dairies - Funny"

Joe is at the fx house, I believe. Haven't actually watched the whole thing yet.

Have I ever mentioned that I enjoy a well-timed pun?

Holy crap, the short space sequence we see looks amazing. Wow.

edit: Also, the camera direction for that shot is AWESOME. I know we were talking about it for a bit, if they would do shakey cam or what not, and I kept saying that while I wouldn't really want shakey cam I was hoping for something neat with the CG camera direction. I think I got my wish.

Ok, I managed to put my cybersleuthing skills to good use, and after having been told about this first Diary, I managed to uncover 2 others.

            "The Reunion"

            "The Aftermath"

                What a joy to watch.

It all looks incredible - so glad mine is pre-ordered now. As an aside, I will buy this on standard def DVD until the Hi-Def one is released, then I will buy that one and pass the original on to my mother so she can enjoy it too - a win-win type of thing !

The first one hasn't even come out yet, and I'm already waiting for news on another one. Watching these just made the wait for the DVD that much harder. I hope JMS has a lot of plans for future B5 material.

I'm actually cursing the 1/2 meg medium band (I'm sorry but 512 with 40:1 contention is not broadband) that I'm stuck with on temporary reassignment to Dublin, waiting to get back down to the west of Ireland and get my 3-meg, 12:1 conention connection back.

<edit> quick Q why does the B% dvd pictured at the end of the ddiary clip have four discs coming out, is someone not telling me something? </edit>

"There are no good wars. War is always the worst possible way to resolve differences. It degenerates and corrupts both sides to ever more sordid levels of existence, in their need to gain an advantage over the enemy. Those actively involved in combat are almost always damaged goods for the rest of their lives. If their bodies don't bear scars, their minds do, ofttimes both. Many have said it before, but it can't be said to enough, war is hell. "

This also solves the "mystery" of the "Samm" Barnes director's credit on IMDB and elsewhere. She directed the video diaries.

What space sequence? In the Visual FX one at the VMIX site? There, I only saw JMS and this other guy with a Colts hat, pointing to shot lists on the wall.

My PC is so old (Pentium II 233MHz) that, after the diaries were completely downloaded, all but the YouTube one had "William Shatner"-style, pause-filled speech and video, only about 10 to 100 times worse, and my PC CPU was pegged at 100% for the entire playing time of the non-YouTube diaries. The VMIX one was the worst (longest and most frequent pauses).

So, I hope they're on the B5-TLT DVD for the watchability factor.

Yes, the vmix one. It's about 4 minutes in, about 2:22 on the countdown clock.

And that really is a pretty ancient computer; my mobile phone has a faster processor than that. So it's not that much of a surprise that streaming video doesn't work that well, I'm afraid that beyond a certain point you just need to upgrade if you want to keep up.
