Great, even for Region 2. What a wonderful surprise!

Now this pretty much seals the deal on how popular B5 really is still. I pre-ordered the dvd and chose to just do standard shipping instead of doing the 2 or 1 day shipping because I didn't want to pay extra..well I just received an email saying there is a delay on my shipment..so I revised my pay plan to 2 days. If I get another delay I'm moving to 1 day even if that means paying extra..but it shows and confirms that the new B5 movie really is #6. How's that for irony.

I'm curious, what did the delay e-mail exactly say? If they're actually already at a point that would get them in trouble fulfilling pre-orders, that's pretty amazing.

I pre-ordered the movie around midnight just 4 hours ago. So I went out to dinner with my wife after I got home from work and when I got back home from dinner I got an email saying that we need your approval by April 25th to confirm that there is a delay with your order. I can't remember what amazon said but pretty much told me that even though the movie is released on July 31st it won't be shipped until August 4th or 5th which means that I probably wouldn't have gotten it until August 10th or something. But now that I changed it to the 2 day shipping I should be able to get it by August 2nd. They must be getting so many pre-orders that they can't keep up with what they can send out on the same day.

us to ship the unavailable items to you as soon as possible, though
they may arrive later than expected. If we have not received your

Please note: This e-mail was sent from a notification-only address
that cannot accept incoming e-mail. Please do not reply to this message.
I'm not sure what that means... it almost sounds to me like they need my approvial because the item won't be abailable by May 25. That's to be expected as it won't be released until July 31.

Hmmm... my order confirmation email stated:

Shipping estimate for these items: July 31, 2007
                Delivery estimate: August 3, 2007 - August 7, 2007
After I approved the delay in my order, it is now:

                Shipping estimate: August 1, 2007
                Delivery estimate: August 3, 2007 - August 6, 2007
So it looks like the ship date has been in fact pushed back a day but the delivery window has been pushed up if anything. How is that?

                Interesting...

I also see we are still at #6. Anyone know how Amazon calculates this rank? Is it based on sales for the week? For the day or hour? Some sort of weighted time average? I'm quite curious.

It's updated per hour, and I'm guessing it is using some average over a longer time period. And reading that e-mail, it seems they indeed aren't able to ship enough on the 31st any more, which is pretty amazing.

And they need your approval because when you put your pre-order down, you're specifically agreeing to pay money to get a product shipped to you on a certain date. If they move that date they need to make sure if you're ok with that or cancel the pre-order, if they want to play fair with their pre-ordering costumers. I have a feeling that when you approved the delay, you're now set to ship "as soon as available", rather than having an order locked at a specific date. Which means that the date new copies are available is when it will be shipped to you, 1st of august being their current best estimate, but you're not not in their system as having an order for a specific date anymore, if that 1st of august date should slip.

We are now up to #5.

I wonder what the record is at Amazon.com for a DVD that is still using the "No image available" picture. I'd be willing to bet this is it.

I notified Amazon about the image in the Warner Brothers Press Release, gave them the URL to the release and the photo, but they appear to be in a coma, because they still haven't put an image up there.

I think they're probably waiting for a clean version from WB, since the press release's picture is both angled and has a SRP on it, and I guess Amazon doesn't feel like 'shopping it up to fit with their standard picture format themselves.

I haven't bought mine at amazon, because if I can I take Region 2... so I'd guess there might be 1/4 additional sales over the Region 2 site going on.

Maybe - just maybe, a man can dream - studios will now see the power of direct2DVD. Maybe - again - they will understand that the customer knows what he want's to see, and that isn't the same again and again ad infinity repeated. Maybe there will be a little revolution coming down, giving the customer the influence he has, because he buys. Wishful thinking?

Least JMS gets what he earned, makes me believe in the illusion of a "fair world" a little bit more 9-)
