"Then what kind of head of security would I be if I let people like me know things that I'm not supposed to know? I know what I know because I have to know it. And if I don't have to know it, I don't tell me, and I don't let anyone else tell me either."

(@AstroBoy: Thankfully, I didn't have any liquids around this time. That was hilarious! )

Zathras does not remember. But if Zathras remember later, Zathras tells you.

(I learned the liquid rule the hard way , thanks to this thread.)

"Yes, and it is very interesting poison. It comes in two parts. Both are harmless on their own, but when combined, quite lethal. The first settles into the blood stream and the intestinal walls. It stays there for years, silent, dormant, waiting. When the other half of the poison enters the body, the two meet, have a little party in your cardiovascular system. And suddenly, you .. are .. quite .. dead."

No traffic, no complaints, no noise. Traders, troublemakers, and ambassadors, all tugged snuggly in their little beds. I love this time of night.

"She would sit across from on cold nights in the study. Her tiny frame lost in enormous over stuffed chair, her feet curled be beneath her. In my dreams, I still remember the pattern of runes, handed stitched to the hem of her gown, even though I never studied them. At night when I read alone, I still hear her sighing over passages on the pages which troubled her. We spent the nights in study, like that. Sometimes never saying a word and never needing too."
