computer game? I'm speaking of TMoS of course. All the other outlandish speculation has been covered, so I thought I would bring up a theory that I haven't seen anywhere else (although I only skimmed the "Rampant speculation" thread).

While I believe there has been mention of a "script", it's not uncommon to have a 'script' for adventure games with extended amounts of dialouge. The B5 universe could easily accomodate an adventure or RPG game, possibly with original characters fighting in the Shadow or Earth war. You could even have an open-ended plot, a la Deus Ex 2, whereby you could choose to support the Shadows or Vorlons or some other third-party. It could easily have a skill system like most RPGs, your party's techno-mage could cast magic, a ranger could handle special skills, and a generic fighter-type to round out the party.

Well, before I get too deep into the specifics of the game, what do the rest of you think?

This actually was already covered a month or two ago in our discussions, and was pretty well shot down, for the very simple reason that even when B5 did have a computer game that was being developed during the *prime* of the series, it was canned and never released after being pretty damn close to completion. If something B5-related could get that far (and look pretty awesome, I might add, as well as having footage of the cast and such filmed for it that still has never been seen) and still have a company choose to not release it back when B5 was actually *on* TV, the chances of a computer game company going for a B5 project 6 years later are significantly decreased, to say the least.

Kevin, I hardly felt as though my "idea" was shot down, and I really don't want to take credit for it.

I was the one who brought up the game idea, and it's still a possibility to come in my books. But this coming offering probably isn't. Not now, it just wouldn't be right.

I remember when the B5 sim was to be coming out, and I was probably the most excited person ever (yeah yeah) for it. When they announced Sierra was doing it, I knew the game would never see the light of day. It wasn't "deer hunter" enough.

B5 does need a game. The release of the DVDs has allowed new fans to come in, and old ones to come to again. If they follow this with more offerings, who says the demand won't happen?

But yes, nothing is happening until that demand exists...I hate to admit it just as much as anyone.

What is this other game you speak of? I found a site for something called B5:I Found Her, but I could not for the life of me figure out what it actually was. I also found a flight sim called Into the Fire, which one site said was within months of release, and a another site said had been dropped by Sierra and picked up by a new company called Sector 14 to finish. Is this old news, or what?

I Found Her is a fan-brew flight sim based on B5. I think they revamped their page, and then promptly forgot it existed, which might explain why you can't find much about it. I took their demo for a spin a while back - it seems they have at least the basics of Starfury flight down.

The Sierra game was dropped in a memory hole - it no longer seems to exist in any form.

I don't think this is it, but I could see another B5 game in the future. Have Battlefield 1942 engine and play the Earth-Minbari war? That would be cool!! Or an online game to explore the B5 universe. I would actually pay to play that. Personally, I just hope its a movie.

Little did we know that, in secret, while we were fighting and bickering amongst ourselves, the B5 games had silently manifested themselves for brief periods of time. Of course, their annoyance at our petty flame wars led them to abandon this tired, corner of the galaxy to its fate, whilst they moved on to distant, greener pastures.

However a few of them, for reasons yet unknown, stayed behind......

What would be cool about that? If you were the humans you'd be sure you'd lose and if you were the Minbari you would definitely win .. it's like watching hockey from the TV when you already know the result )

There is a Babylon 5 mod for Star Trek Armada 2. The main site is here:

The 8 playable sides are: Earth Alliance, Minbari, Centauri, Narn, League, Vorlons, Shadows, and Rangers. Each side has a branching techtree so you can change it up each time you play, kind of a "what if" structure dictating what ships/stations you can build. Most of the cannon ships are in the mod, along with lots of new ones either made by fans or based on the now defunct B5 Wars game. While Armada 2 is not the best strategic game platform to work from, B5A2 is pretty interesting.
