  • New B5 terminology (Warning: Adult oriented)

This is a copy and past from B5tv.com where I first shared the story. Thought I would share it with my friends here as well:

My roommate and I were quietly watching our B5 S5 dvd's, when one of those amazing fantastic moments (which are extremely numerous in B5) came along that just sends a rush of emotion and adrenaline coursing through you, giving you goosebumps and forcing you to say something like "Yeah!" or simply an astonished "Wow."

Anyway, one such moment occurred, I believe it was Sheridan's blow-up to the council telling them that if they want war, then war it is.

Afterward, I simply and jokingly pretended to spasm and made the appropriate noise, both simulating a sudden orgasm.

My roommate looked at me as if to say..."What was that?"

Seeing this query lodged in his expression, I simply replied:

    "Oh...sorry...Babylonigasm."

To which we both suddenly burst into laughter.

This I share with you all...my new term..now used frequently around my house:

"Babylonigasm: The reaction one has upon experiencing a sudden and near orgasm while watching Babylon 5...especially during such moments as G'Kar's speeches...Delenne's arrival at the last moment to save the station...Ivanova's 'God sent me' monologue, and the ultimate cause of the most lasting and sustained Babylonigasm the entire episode, Sleeping in Light, and so on. Warning: Babylonigasms can occur spontaneously and without warning, even after viewing all five seasons repeatedly."

Of course you can have Babylonigasms while watching other shows and films, but since B5 brought on the most in number and most sustained reactions of this nature, it's the one that gets the crown of having it named for it. Not to mention I coined the term whilst having one during B5.

    Enjoy!

Anytime, glad to be of service.

Can anyone name their best Babylonigasm moment in the show?

And some have queried over at B5tv as to whether theatres might need to hand out towels to audience members before screenings of the new film (if that is what it is). I mean, B5 on the big screen...that's one HUGE Babylonigasm

I would hate to have to clean up after those crowds.

            my favorite babylongasm

Has to be the moment in Sleeping in Light when Delenn cannot face John as he prepares to leave. A touch on the shoulder and all her defences are gone.

            wow...

I agree with Control. That entire scene from the time they meet in the hallway to Delenn reaching out after Sheridan is gasmic. Though the destruction of the Station with JMS' commentary ("Grand and Glorious") runs an incredibly close second.

IMHO, as I stated in my original post, the entire sp SiL is to me one giant and sustained Babylonigasm.

Others...Ivanova's "God sent me" speech. Delenne's "He is behind me, you are in front of me" speech. Pretty much every G'Kar speech (especially the Declaration of Principles), Delenne's explanation of the candle to Sheridan in S5, the battle for Earth, Delenne "Skin Dancing" and the line that accompanied it..."End this." UUUUGHH! Wonderful! Actually there are just too many to list for me...guess that's why B5 got the term named after it, huh? No other show has done what this one did and still does to me...so it gets its own term...and as with most new terminology it can become used over time on other shows, but the original connotation and source is and will always be carried with it.

Yeah, that's nice and all, but the *biggest* BG (there, now it has a shortened/clean version) has got to be Endgame ...

I liked it at first but then I thought it was "too much".

                    I agree completely!

I'm trying to recall the name of the ep. It's S4, the first time we meet the Drakh, before Delenne returns to Minbar and reforms the Grey Council. Amazing moment.

And sorry, I disagree, "too much"
IS Ivanova! Anything less just wouldn't be in character.

I only hope CC is back in this new project, as I do all of them.

Another B'Gasmic sequence was the one from "A Paragon of Animals" (part of the much-maligned Teep Arc) in season 5. It starts on the Enfili homeworld, with the Enfili looking out the bunker window and then getting the leader to the window and pointing: " I thought it was a new star in the sky. Perhaps a good omen. But they are not stars! Look!" (made all the more pleasurable because WE knew that they were, in fact, "stars") and then all the Whitestars jump into Enfili space to destroy the raiders... and goes to the point where the Drazi Ambassador first starts to suspect that he is well and truly screwed:

"But... what are those shapes around Enfilia?"

Delenn: "Those are the White Stars."

DA: "Er... how many of them?"

                            Londo: "ALL of them."

Then the picture of the Whitestars lining up for battle....

I must agree that I agree with Boxleitner. Any time the Drazi get rightfully screwed, it is B'gasmic.
I believe that when we leave a place, part of it goes with us and part of us remains. Go anywhere in the station, when it is quiet, and just listen. After a while, you will hear the echoes of all our conversations, every thought and word we've exchanged. Long after we are gone .. our voices will linger in these walls for as long as this place remains. But I will admit .. that the part of me that is going .. will very much miss the part of you that is staying.

Darn..... all those "techniques" I used on college coeds... never thought to use a B5 episode.
