  • A Call to Arms/Crusade Question

In the TV Movie A Call to Arms we were intoduce to the Excalibur and then the Drakh Plague ETC. If Memory serves the ships full name was the IAS Excalibur and the IAS stand for Interstellar Alliance Ship.

Now The Intro to Crusade says:
Who Are You? Matthew Gideon, Captain. Attached to the Earth Alliance Starship Excalibur. What do you want? To find a cure to the Drakh plague before it wipes out all life on earth. Where Are You Going? Anywhere I Have To. Who do you serve and who do you trust? Who do you serve and who do you trust

So my Question is: is the Excalibur a Ship of the ISA or the Earth Alliance?

While it was being built, the Victory class ships were definitely intended for the ISA. I'm pretty sure the ships Sheridan talks about with Delenn in season 5, intended to follow up on the overworked white star fleet, by building something under a Minbari/Earth cooperation, are in fact the ships we see in ActA.

I don't know if they ever explicitly say it in Warzone, but I guess they transferred ownership of the ship to the EA, as part of their plan to help the EA with finding a cure for the plague.

The Victory-class destroyers were a joint-project of the Minbari and the Humans, built for the IA, which is why the prototypes are secretly built in Earth-Controlled space. Each party was supposed to get one of the ships after they came off the assembly line. After the events of ACtA Sheridan assigns the only surviving ship to the EA for use in the search for a cure to the plague.

Obviously EarthForce was going to take the lead in the search for a cure, so that meant an EF crew for the ship, and that, in turn, meant putting the ship itself under Earth jurisdiction.

      Regards,

      Joe
