  • Ivanova and B5:TLT

I have to admit I've only just picked up on the tremendous news of the new project and all (how long has this been out there????). Having not had time to trawl thru' the copious communications on this subject, my queston is simple: Have too many bridges been burnt to hope that Claudia Christian may appear in one of these projects. A resolution to the Marcus question would be great to see (is Jason Carter avavilable come to think of it????).

    TIA

Smudger, JMS was asked about whether we might see Ivanova right after he announced the project and his reply was "Who can tell?" so I'd say that it hasn't been ruled out.

Technically, though, the Ivanova/Marcus story has been closed when JMS wrote "Space, Time and the Incurable Romantic" for Amazing Stories magazine. It's highly controversial but JMS did say it was canon when he mentioned it in one of the DVD commentaries.

There's nothing to say that we might now see Marcus, though. I don't know if the Lost Tales will all be linear and occur after the events in 'Objects at Rest'.

JMS said that the first one will be right after Objects at rest, but didn't limit the other ones So I assume that we'll be seeing events from all over the time spectrum.

        Actually, he said:

And in regard to that...the initial goal was to try and do three big
stories in one DVD. So I wrote three scripts, featuring Sheridan,
Lochley, Galen and Garibaldi. (I wanted to focus on the human
characters initially so we'd have more time for prosthetics R&D for the
next one.) The stories, as noted previously, were huge...all over the
map, from Minbar, to Earth, Mars, the future, the distant past, as well
        as B5 itself obviously.
        (Italics added)

Now some of this may be framing stories in the future or flashbacks to the distant past in the first batch, but the whole anthology nature of the enterprise makes it perfectly possible to do a story about one of Marcus's solo intelligence gathering missions from the S3 time period, or a Lennier story from the time of his exile or an Ivanova story from her destroyer's shakedown cruise.

I'd love to see a Lennier story on his quest for redemption.

Wow, a simple question mushrooms! Thanks for the very thorough answers folks, it's good to see the B5 community is alive and kicking. I'll have to keep popping back here now to keep abreast of developments.......God I'm all excited!

With other words - you want Crusade back ^^
Would be nice to see some Crusade stories in TLT but one or two episodes for finding a cure for the plaugue or reveal of the mysteries of the ap. box would be a waste

Well, with Peter Woodward involved. *crosses fingers*

I wouldn't mind seeing something about the Drakh plague. I'd much rather find out what's going on with that box though. It's been driving me nuts for years.

no i don't want crusade, heel i think it would make a much better story if the people in crusade had nothing to do with the cure that the rangers found it or something else.

and the Apoc box has driven me a bit nuts too. an invonava and lockly ep would be interesting too, cause well you know that they would each hate the other on site

I would really like to see some of the Crusade crew and storylines again, especially the cure and the apo.box, of course. It would at least be nice to see or at least hear something about the Excalibur. It would be nice to have solved the apo-box thing in a Galen+Gideon-story, and the cure-thing could be told from other perspectives too, e.g. the rangers assisting Sheridan or the Excalibur...
well perhaps it's just Garibaldi's Edgars-Company who discovers the cure after visiting their archives...

As for the topic, an Ivanova-Story about her time as Destoyer-Commander would be cool. I don't need a meeting between her and Lochley, but anyways, one of her missions could of course start or end at B5.

Anything that involves Galen would be fine by me

                              Claudia and JMS

Claudia was at the United Fan Con last weekend and in a message thread on Peter David's blog about the con there was the following exchange (with no additional details):

I wonder if there is any hope that Claudia will return in one of the new B5 movies that JMS is shooting?

Judging from the way she deflected a JMS question at UFC, I severely doubt a return of Ivanova is in the offing.

I would think if Joe really wanted to do an Ivanova story, he would make it happen. That will obviously depend in part on how well the first DVD does.

With filming still going on in Vancouver, Joe will not likely be able to preview anything at LosCon over Thanksgiving weekend. I'll definitely be talking about it in the SF Tube Talk panel I'll be doing, though.
