None that I am aware of. My fingers are crossed, but my guess is if there is any chance of it then we're probably talking after the new year. But who knows. There are a TON of things hitting the physical media market in this last quarter of 2021 here in the U.S. so there might be a surprise for December. But I buy a lot of physical media and I somewhat follow release news and I haven't seen rumors for awhile.

Yeah I've been following the Babylon 5 thread over at the bluray . com forums and still no luck.

The also recently released Stargate SG-1 remasters got a cheap bluray release (so cheap they got the boxset cover wrong lol) yet B5 still gets no love. :/

Hey Blake, what is your BluRay.com handle? PM me if you like. I only just started using that site. Looney5 if you are looking. ? I doubt I'll get much into discussions, but I am slowly adding to MY COLLECTION if you ever get curious.

I've avoided the SG-1 release because I've heard it isn't worth it. SG-1 deserves better, though if you know me all I do is complain about that show. SOOO MUCH WASTED POTENTIAL!. I still love it though.

I will have to go check out the Babylon 5 thread over there. Never say never. A Blu-Ray release could be right around the corner with all the B5 activity lately.

            Hello,

I'm a long time B5 fan. I was excited to learn of the remastered version of B5 last year and have been holding out for BluRays. Call me old fashioned but I still prefer to own something physical when I buy something. Anyways, after waiting a year, I'm now considering making my own and as I don't currently know how to do that I wanted to ask a couple questions.

            (1) If one were to buy the remastered HD episodes off Amazon, is it possible to burn these to BluRay discs so they can be watched off-line? If I do this just for myself with no plans to sell copies am I breaking any laws?

            (2) Seeing as JMS is now making commentary videos for the episodes through his patron page, would it be possible to pull the audio from these and add them as a commentary track that could be played in sync with the video on homemade BluRay discs? Again, is there anything unethical about this if I'm making these just for myself?

If this is possible, and I wouldn't be doing something unethical, could someone point me in the right direction for how to make something like this? What software / hardware would I need, etc? If it makes a difference I'm a PC guy, not a MAC user.

            Thanks,
            Carl

You would be doing something pretty difficult unless you have some serious software to not only capture the streamed content at optimum quality, but also convert the captured files to a format that could be burned to disc. I am a huge physical media person and I long for the day we get a proper Blu-Ray or even 4K Blu-Ray release, but what you propose would likely take a LOT of time, skill, and effort that would likely yield less than perfect results. Like I said, I am a huge physical media lover and I wouldn't even remotely attempt to try to learn how to do this because the end result would likely be pretty weak, if it is even possible.

Sounds like I'm back to waiting. I'd be ecstatic to see a 4K Blu-Ray release, but I'd even be happy if they just released the current HD remastered version on Blu-Ray.

                Thanks,
                Carl

There's someone over on B5TV upscaling B5 himself. From the grabs I've seen, it looks really good. Maybe download those as he releases and burn them to discs. Probably not that hard. With basic video editing software, you could easily sync up the JMS commentaries audio to an episode.
Captain John Sheridan: I really *hate* it when you do that.

                  Kosh: Good!

Thanks. I went ahead and registered over at B5TV.com. I see the individual you are talking about has taken his links down. So I PMed him over a week ago asking how one could get his upscaled episodes and he hasn't replied. I agree, the short examples of his work that I can find do look good. However his last post to B5TV was back on December 2nd and it appears he's gone quiet since then. Not certain if he'll resurface or not. I hope he's OK.

The links were moved to the "Salad Bar Chat area > General off-topic discussion > Proper Remaster of Season 1" of the B5TV forum. That part of the forum is only visible to logged in members. He has completed season 1. Episodes 17-22 can still be downloaded, the first 16 episodes have been deleted by 1fichier.com due to inactivity.

Apologies Looney! I haven't been here in aaaages sorry! My handle at blu-ray.com is the same as here.. I've popped over there and sent you a friend request! You'll find the B5 blu-ray thread in my posting history in-between all my gaming/modding rants lol. If one ever happens odds are the news will appear there first!

I've only added a handful of moves into my collection list there as my real collection fills an entire wall its so massive.. would take days to add it all to their site haha.

I'm still avoiding the SG1 blu-ray release too for now. It's very difficult and expensive to import into Australia so I don't want a half arsed release.

HAHAHA mine fills my entire house... it is beyond ridiculous. I have been trying to add titles to my Blu-Ray.com collection from time to time, usually new acquisitions. Honestly I like the Blu-Ray.com, but the scan function for adding to collections needs to have a multi-function. I use another app called MyMoviesPro, and while it may not be perfect it does have a multi-scan function.

So glad you stopped back in to say hello.

JMS' response when somebody commented on a recent question to Warner Archives about a Blu-Ray release:

Yep, in pretty much exactly those words each time. One could wish they wouldn't take the fans for stupid.
