  • Why Isn't There More B5 Merch??

Yeah, so that subject is a little click-bait-y but it's a very common question. I've mentioned before that I'd heard from reliable sources that the audio drama folks, Big Finish had tried to license Babylon 5 and been rebuffed. I'd never had a source I could point to, though. Now, thanks to a friend, there's a source for the same message via the Inglorious Treksperts Podcast. Eaglemoss, who do character and shop models was on a podcast and when asked about IP they weren't allowed to do, he said that WB refuses to license B5 saying that it's 'not a live license' and that they're 'not interested.

It's the current podcast here: http://inglorioustreksperts.com/?fbc...UjMrWp-y0TvbiY or if it goes to the 'past podcasts, it's tittled "SHIP SHAPE w/ BEN ROBINSON". That bit is in the last 1/4 of the 'cast, I think.

So there's that. WB has been approached for licenses and won't allow them.

Looney...there are *many* things I'm prepared to believe about you. But that you're sorry about anything to do with emojis? Not one of them. 🤯 😁😜 (They're kinda small, aren't they?)

At least their inaction preserves the show and prevents it from being ruined. Not that new bad stuff, ruins old stuff. But when they inevitably do revive it. Most of us will wish we could return to these halycon days when the WB pretended the show did not exist.

This is really old, but I came back to ask a question and am clicking on my notifs. My quoted post was borne from my years spent in the Star Wars fandom. Although the disney+ shows we're getting are pretty good. So something good came out of the bad.

Going back you what you originally said Delenn_of_Mir, I think the key difference is JMS. I'm not guaranteeing success here, but I also don't see him pulling a George Lucas on us. From what I've read, JMS has no great desires to reset several self-perceived wrongs in the Babylon 5 Universe. The question is can he successfully reignite the Universe with new ideas that maintain the old framework? I HOPE.

All of these years later and post Crusade, LOTR, and The Lost Tales I'm hopeful he has a fresh perspective. Keep in mind, he has watched and thought about B5 a lot lately - see Patreon commentary videos. A factor many may not have considered over the years is that when JMS worked on Crusade, LOTR, and even The Lost Tales he likely hadn't just re-watched all that was five seasons of Babylon 5. He still might not have done that all of these years later, but he has definitely viewed episodes and refreshed memories. We will see how that translates with his creativity.

BACK TO THE ORIGINAL theme of the thread.... Anyone notice that it seems a lot of non-vintage t-shirts are starting to show up on eBay? I'm not bothering to put this in the FOUND ON EBAY thread, because I'm not sure these LIKELY unlicensed products should be advertised....... and I am lazy.

If it helps, every time I see those ads on 'my' pages, they're ejected and banned. When I see them elsewhere, I report them. Much of the time they're large sellers who are using actor images and sometimes autograph pics without any payments to the actors and likely posted by 'bots. Do I differentiate these from stuff found on Ets, etc? Yeah, but it's more of an emotional difference, I admit.
