They were wrong, of course, Season 3 was better (for reasons I explained in that thread).
However, as you say, I am in a distinct minority, and even I, the uber-champion of Season 3 (and the excellent "King Arthur episode" ) loved Season 4 almost as much as Season 3. Only the last episode (DoFS) was a real snoozer to me, and that was certainly excusable given the circumstances.

To be kinda blunt, the vast majority of fans loved Season 4. There's a few people who complain about lack of a win through force with the Shadow War... but not a whole lot. Certainly not enough to forumlate a real, valid complaint, simply a matter of opinion and differences in taste. You liked it or you didn't. Most did. Not really a whole lot left to say on the matter.

I see a LOT of Babylon 5 saying exactly or similar comments. I don't understand why?
I thought season 4 of Babylon 5 was the best season. IMHO the end of the Shadow War made perfect sense... they certainly couldn't beat the Shadows/Vorlons through force... only through rejecting them as parents. Back in 1992, JMS described the show as "Children growing up and taking control of their own lives," and that's exactly what happened.
And, I liked all the mini-arcs: The Minbari Civil War (with the excellent acting of Neroon!!!!). The Earth Civil War. Garibaldi's Betrayal. And the Birth of the Alliance. Season 4 was a much stronger season than season 3 (which had boring stand-alone episodes...like that horrible King Arthur episode). I can not find a single season 4 episode I did not like. *It's near-perfection.*
Also, I don't consider Season 4 to be as "damaged" as most people say. JMS said that Episode 422 became episode 419... only 3 episodes difference. That's a Trivial modification.
