  • Babylon 5- The Lost Tales *SPOILERS*

Well, maybe Jan should be the one to start this thread, but I'm freaking psyched!!!!

We've got a new B5 project announced by JMS at SDCC today,

    As per Jan's post-
--And thereÆs something elseàWB came to him as they do periodically wanting to do something with B5. They asked if he wanted to do a feature film but JMS declined mainly because he canÆt yet picture structuring a B5 movie ôàas long as Andreas and Rick insist on staying dead.ö Maybe in a year or two heÆll be able to but right now he canÆt do something big. What JMS suggested was a bunch of short filmsùlittle mini-movies, an anthology show set in the Babylon 5 universe. They said, ôOkay.ö ThereÆs a network already interested in carrying them but theyÆre also planned for direct to DVD. This will be ôBabylon 5 û The Lost Tales", a lot of small stories that never made it into the series that heÆs rediscovered notes for. And JMS wants no interference, complete creative support û in writing. They said, ôOkay.ö And JMS wants to direct them. They said, ôOkay.ö The first will be three individual stories about three of the main characters (to be determined). The plan is to shoot in September, post-production Oct.-Dec. and theyÆll probably come out the second quarter of 2007.
Any thoughts on who those three TBD characters might be? Let the rampant, irresponsible speculation begin!

When asked, he said it was too soon because the show was just green lit a couple weeks ago. I believe he said the first of the meetings to discuss possible actors would happen in a couple weeks. I noticed he mentioned a "Sheridan" episode several times so that might be one he is hoping for in the first batch.

Ivanova (after all, no bridge is ever so badly burned that it cannot be rebuilt)
Londo & Vir or Vir & Morden
      Kosh & Lyta

This list based 100% on my wishes and nothing else.

This kind of miniseries-ish format could lead to some great stuff. There are lots of short stories that could be told that don't necessarily need to be in any particular order. Personally, I'd like to see stories from outside the 2258-2262 period. Stories about Vir as Emperor, David Sheridan, Garibaldi and The Great Burn (2762), and really old Vorlon stuff would all be some cool stories that could go for 3-5 one-hour episodes.

Thanks, Doug. Yes, he mentioned Sheridan, Delenn, Lochley and Garibaldi specifically but not definitely. When asked if there was any possibility of Ivanova appearing, he said it was too early to tell. He didn't rule out the possibility, though.

            Fantastic news.

Doubt they will start shooting in September since they don't have actors locked up right now.

It would be cool to see a TV movie showing Sinclair's arrival as Valen at Minbar, detailing his life from that point.

Good news indeed. Was there any discussion about where these will be shown? Maybe on the CW? Sci-Fi channel?

Nope. Only that it's going to be direct to DVD *and* that there's a network interested in broadcasting it.

Direct to DVD eh? Interesting. Were any hints dropped about which network that may be?

I'm excited about seeing new B5 stuff. Before last year I was pretty much was only interested in the show itself. But, since then I've read all the canon novels and the comics. Those works added another dimension to the show and it made me want see more in the B5 universe.

Direct to DVD would be great. There's always a chance that something could go wrong and it doesn't happen. But I've seen crappy movies that didn't make it to the theatre get released direct to DVD. If that kind of stuff can make it to that format, surely something of quality could do it.

I'll believe it when I see it.
Recently, there was a reckoning. It occurred on November 4, 2014 across the United States. Voters, recognizing the failures of the current leadership and fearing their unchecked abuses of power, elected another party as the new majority. This is a first step toward preventing more damage and undoing some of the damage already done. Hopefully, this is as much as will be required.

Gropos or EA fighter pilots during Earth/Minbari war...

Londo and kosh, would be interesting...
