No but you need to do some revision before taking the tri-yearly renewal test. Watch an episode from each year.

Well...since OmahaStar made a mistake in his post correcting you, I guess we should let it slide.

      This time.

Not necessarily a mistake, more of an excuse for everyone to pop in the dvds. Cuz we need excuses to do so, after all.

I'm planning to attend. The San Diego Comic-Con and Dragon*Con in Atlanta are my two regular conventions each year. I haven't had a chance to look at the guest list for either yet. I might fly down early to San Diego this year and spend some time sight seeing in the area.

Well, if it's any consolation, I thought you were just joking And I too have a slight (okay, necessary) need for coffee in the morning.

Gonna watch some border hoppers showing you how it's done, DougO?
Recently, there was a reckoning. It occurred on November 4, 2014 across the United States. Voters, recognizing the failures of the current leadership and fearing their unchecked abuses of power, elected another party as the new majority. This is a first step toward preventing more damage and undoing some of the damage already done. Hopefully, this is as much as will be required.

Cool, I'll hope to touch base with you sometime during the weekend. I don't see much in the way of media guests yet but it seems that they announce those closer to the con. This will be my first time so I'm looking forward to it.

That would be great. We'll have to plan a place and time.

I'll be interested to hear what you think. It's a fun convention but is very different from a con such as Dragon*Con. First of all, it's huge. They broke 100K attendees last year. The more popular sessions are held in gigantic rooms which are not as personal as what you find in smaller cons. Its a huge media event and as such it sometimes comes off with a more commercial feel. It's not uncommon for surprise guests to show up at talks due to the proximity to Hollywood. Some that come to mind in years past are the Serenity and LotR sessions where a significant portion of the cast made a surprise appearance.

Another big contrast between San Diego and fan run cons is that there is very little night life. Once the main con shuts down at 6 or 7 most people leave. There is an anime room that runs until early in the morning, but as far as I've seen there isn't really a lot of socializing or gaming going on after hours. On Saturday there is a costume contest in the evening so there are a lot of people around late that night.

I'm pretty sure you'll enjoy it. The dealer/exhibit room is pretty overwhelming. I typically spend a couple hours a day walking through it and usually don't have time to see everything.

I've been looking around for a site where 'newbies' can learn the lay of the land with no success so far. Being at the Convention Center I wasn't expecting much in the way of after hours stuff. I'm staying about 4 miles away anyway. I'll miss the intimacy of the fan-run cons, though. One of my favorite memories is of Vor-Con in Vancouver BC a few years ago.

It seems like every year there are major announcements made at SDCC so I'm looking forward to that, along with the mix of comics and media and even literary guests. A few friends are sending their shopping lists with me, too--nothing better than spending other people's money!
