  • Politcs, Religion etc

This was actually at the end of my post in the B5 topic of politics, but as how it was rather long I thought it was best to start another topic and post it there. I welcome all comments, for through discussing and learning others viewpoints is the only way to gain more insight about the world at large.

    Anyways here it is.

I find the problem is lack of choice. I can not comment on the state of Europe politics nor Englands. I simply have not read enough on it to make a informed statement. In the States however, we have to choose between Democrats (the 'left') and Republicans (the 'right'). There are 'third' parties but are held back by the major two. From what I have personally seen and experienced people are forced to pick between the two major parties over a handfull of 'hot button' topics. They may choose one party (canidate) based soley on their issue, but disagree with the rest of their stances. In many situations the two major parties are almost identical. Both of them want to strip some of your rights, they just disagree on which ones...but agree on some, but for diffrent reasons. Repubs want to limit speech based on (usually) 'moral' reasons. Dems do the same but for PC reasons. I do not approve of racists remarks, but I'll defend a bigots right to say them (let's me know what type of person they are, so I may avoid them in the future).

I could go on and on, but I'll simply throw out my solution. More support for the 'third parties'. Let the racists form their own party, so we can avoid it. Let the religious right that seem to control the Repubs form their own party, so we can just vote them down. Let the communists (or big government control of everything) be allowed back in, so they can be seperated from the Democrats. Or just simply become Libertarians...we are pro-everything :-).

There is an interesting political thread already started in the Off Topic section. You can't miss it. Feel free to read it and comment on anything you'd like. Easier to confine such discussions to one thread, rather than two on two different boards.
Recently, there was a reckoning. It occurred on November 4, 2014 across the United States. Voters, recognizing the failures of the current leadership and fearing their unchecked abuses of power, elected another party as the new majority. This is a first step toward preventing more damage and undoing some of the damage already done. Hopefully, this is as much as will be required.

DOH, Didn't even to think to check in the sections above. I had the B5 link bookmarked. :-) I'll go check out the off-topic section.
