  • B5 collectors magazine

Hi, I have found two copies of the B5 official collector's magazine by Titan in my bedroom cupboard, these are both the same edition and cover the first two seasons in the episode guide. they are both in excellent condition.

Are they rare, and was there ever a followup issue to this?

I have looked on ebay but can only see the monthlys.

edit: according to this site, Zocalo I have this issue with the ISSN: 1362-5756

It was the only issue as far as I know. I've seen it on Ebay once in a while and as I recall, one issue may have gone for as much as $18-20, the rest usually under $10.

Our own Joe Nazzaro has an article in it about the Special Effects. Here's one of his posts from a while back:

Speaking of the B5 Magazine, this is probably something extremely obvious that I'm pointing out (if so, apologies) but there was also a B5 Magazine published here in the States by Sendai in 1995. Referred to as The Official Babylon 5 Collector's Magazine, they only put out one issue at $4.99. I found out about it very late in the process and most of the interviews were already done, but I managed to do a piece on Ron Thornton and the show's FX for that issue, which meant they sent me a couple of copies as well. I haven't seen much reference to this magazine over the years, so I was curious if the experts know whether or not it's hard to find.

Thanks for the info Jan, seems while it aint to rare, it could be worth hanging onto, not for monetery gain, just as a great momento of the show, and I have two of them lol..

Bought a couple copies of this back in mid-1996 at my local K-Mart.

In a time when B5 merchandise was rather scarce, it was something I never hesitated throwing down for, and now they seem to command something like 3-4 times the original cover price, depending on where you look. It was current up through the end of the second season or the mid-point of season 3, and was a nifty promotional mag, all things considered.

It would have been nice to finish it off with a second issue with all the seasons.

I remember visiting my newsagents and Forbidden Planet for a couple of months looking for the next issue, it never came.

The reason I ended up with two copies was a friend who was also a B5 fan seen it and bought me a copy, not realising I had bought one earlier that week, sad to say I wasn't thinking of him when I bought my copy
