• Yet another poll..vote for your favorite B5 TV movie

With the previous poll i had no problem,Season 4 is my favorite by far from the rest.

This one is a little bit difficult for me,i dont know which to choose In the Beginning or A Call to Arms.

But since i have to make a choice i would say In the Beginning.

    You forgot The Gathering.

And technically, for those folks in the UK, A Voice in the Wilderness was originally a movie ...

I'm a big fan of the re-edited version of The Gathering, although I hope the new DVD release of it will have the original version as well. However even if it was an option I'd still have to go for In the Beginning, which was just a rather awesome experience, and twas quite cool to see all these events we had only been hearing about from afar throughout the entire series.

As for the rest... I really enjoyed A Call to Arms, and while many call it more of a Crusade pilot, I've never really agreed; it's about as much of a set up to Crusade as In the Beginning is to Babylon 5, and that's definetly *not* a pilot ;P

Thirdspace was... inconsistent. First half of it really didn't match up to the second half for me in terms of quality, and it did seem a bit hard to swallow in terms of it being part of the story overall.

River of Souls... I did not like. Had some good character stuff, but I felt the plot was a bit weak, and far too drawn out. Would have made for a neat single episode, but as a movie it was just kind of long

And the Rangers pilot... no. Simply no :P In all of B5dom, considering any of the 110 episodes, plus the 13 Crusade episodes, plus the cannon novels and short stories and finally the movies as well, it's my least favourite entity. By quite a bit.

That being said some B5 is always better then no B5

But I understand I'm not alone in that sentiment...

        My ranking:

ItB

LotR

ACtA

3rdSp

RoS
3rdSp only on number 4 though the SFX and the soundtrack were great.

Not even close in my mind: ItB. Music, pathos, drama, and huge space battles. It ranks up there with the best of the eps. ACtA is good, would rank with the second tier of eps.

The rest would rank below average compared to the eps, IMO.
I believe that when we leave a place, part of it goes with us and part of us remains. Go anywhere in the station, when it is quiet, and just listen. After a while, you will hear the echoes of all our conversations, every thought and word we've exchanged. Long after we are gone .. our voices will linger in these walls for as long as this place remains. But I will admit .. that the part of me that is going .. will very much miss the part of you that is staying.

I consider The Gathering as the pilot episode not as a TV movie.

TG *is* a pilot, but it will be featured in the B5 movie set.

Whereas ACtA is not a pilot .

It was a B5 movie, but not the pilot for 'Crusade'. The function of a pilot is to sell a series. That doesn't apply to ACtA. My guess is that ACtA will be featured in the movie set.

A Call to Arms is in the movie set because yeah, as everyone knows it isn't a pilot.

Legend of the Rangers, on the other hand, will not be in the movie set because it is a pilot. Which is quite fine by me ;P

"In the Beginning" is definately the best, hands down. And Peter David's written adaptation of it is a fun read as well.

"In the Beginning" and a "A Call to Arms" were my favorites. I thought that ACtA was more action packed and it had Galen so it can't be bad ;-). ItB was more story focused (all IMO of course) and there are some real dead spots in it. I have not see either one in a while so I won't be able to give you examples of that.

Seems to me that most people have ITB as their favourite and ACtA as their second favourite... with LotR almost always dead last.

Maybe a better focus for this topic to start taking is why ITB and ACtA tend to be everyones top favourites and why Thirdspace, River of Souls, and Legend of the Rangers (in paticular) failed to make such a dent on most of the fanbase.

Well,IMHO i think that TS and RoS are just long episodes, where in iTB and ACtA have a movie like feeling (not to mention out of this world story, drama and music),LotR just dont fit,i guess people have a hard time to let the old cast go,and the story was pretty weak.

Yeah, probably not a wise idea to bring in the "ghost story" until Season 2
