Actually I quite like season 1 - somewthing about Michael's voice in it.

on the "lent jermiah to a friend yesterday" ID"There are no good wars. War is always the worst possible way to resolve differences. It degenerates and corrupts both sides to ever more sordid levels of existence, in their need to gain an advantage over the enemy. Those actively involved in combat are almost always damaged goods for the rest of their lives. If their bodies don't bear scars, their minds do, ofttimes both. Many have said it before, but it can't be said to enough, war is hell. "

I like the epic Intro of Season 5 the most. Great music and great quotes of our beloved characters!Understanding is a three-edged sword: your side, their side and the truth.John Sheridan

I like Season 5, I think my order would be this:
Season 5
Season 3
Season 4
Season 1
Season 2
Season 2 was a slight different from Season 1 and I just like the original intro more."It is said that the future is always born in pain. The history of war is the history of pain. If we are wise, what is born of that pain matures into the promise of a better world, because we learn that we can no longer afford the mistakes of the past." -- G'Kar in Babylon 5:"In the Beginning"

5 has always been my favorite.
4 is a pretty close second.
1 is next because O'Hare sounds weightier than Boxleitner
2 because Bruce did okay after it was re-recorded
and 3 is last simply because I own so many of the Chris Franke episodic CDs and I just got plain sick and tired of it!

I think 4 is the best. its the most epic, I like the music the best, and it just gives you the sense that something big is about the happen. And it has everyvoice of babylon 5 in it. a side from kosh."Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, Champagne in one hand - strawberries in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming WOW - What a RIDE!"

If you think about it, the season 5 into works only because we can point to the moment the character says the words. It wouldn't have the profound effect on us if it would be the season 1 intro - it would only be "pretty pictures".
Season 1 and 2 have the same message, with season 1 for me having a higher appeal due to Michael's voice, but season 2 having more scenes from the series, giving us a better view on the station and its inhabitants.
The season 3 opening works for me on another level: presenting the antithesis of the Babylon project, and having the music theme in a minor scale.
Season 4 is already having a similar methodology like season 5 has, but not with words, but with images. The music is still in minor scale but with military percussion, and a bit darker for me than season 3.
So, while season 5 stands out (though, only because of our previous knowledge), all other openings have the same level of appeal for me, simply by not being the same.

I was never too fond of the S5 intro - and actually, having seen many such polls on different forums (where usually 3 or 4 were in the lead), I'm surprised about the (current) result of the poll. I just never really like the music that kicks in after the retrospect-section of the intro, when they start to show the actor's credits. It was just a little too heroic and "Star Trek" to me, it missed that nice, little edge that the other season themes had.
If I take both visuals and music into account, I would have to vote for the 4th season one. The rather dark mood, the great pictures - just a perfect combination. S3 rates second, with the IMHO best musical theme (or rather theme variation) of all 5 seasons. S1 rates 3rd, simply because it was the first one and a very neat introduction to the series. S2 is on the forth place, and S5, as mentioned before, ranks last.

@ cornholio1980
My theory was that the reason for the bad poll results of the 5. intro in German boards was the German language version.
Imo the 5. intro only works in the original English.Last edited by Lope de Aguirre; 03-04-2006, 06:15 AM.
