Greetings to All,
When JMS held his 'garage sale' last year, one of the big ticket items was one of two Concept Art pieces by Peter Ledger. This is the original conception of the interior of B5, including the core shuttle and an early version of an outdoor restaurant (destined to become The Fresh Air), complete with an ongoing bar fight featuring the early Garibaldi and several aliens. There are fields and rivers wrapping around the station interior, and people in jetpacks flying around. JMS noted that the copyright passed to the new owner.
When I won the bid, I knew exactly what I wanted to do with the copyright. Richard Biggs had passed away, and there were auctions on E-Bay to raise money for his kids. I wanted to help out.
It took a while to get to this step, but there is now an offering on E-Bay for a series of five giclee prints benefitting the Biggs family. A giclee reproduction is most often used to simulate oil on canvas paintings with remarkable accuracy.
When I saw the giclee print next to the original, I ALMOST wanted to hang the giclee in my home instead of the original. It looked THAT GOOD! That first giclee is at a gallery here in St Thomas with a retail price of $375.00. The first auction of this limited series is for the first two of only five, with a starting bid of $75.00. The remaining prints will follow shortly after this bid is over.
These reprints were professionally imaged and are printed on heavy watercolor paper in the full original size. They are breathtakingly beautiful. I will cover the shipment worldwide as part of my donation to the Biggs clan, and there is a nominal $5.00 charge for the paperwork at E-Bay.
Please help this worthy cause close to our hearts.
